January 2014 – Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA

 This month we travel to the Cape Cod, Massachusetts. After searching Google Maps I chose a small vine covered porch in Provincetown to paint. It must have been taken in summer, because all the flowers were in bloom. All the houses seemed to have lots of flowerbeds and the windows had flowerboxes. Lots of color!

December 2013 – Venice

 This month we travel to the city of Venice. Google Maps took to the streets and canals with “street-view” to the inner city of Venice. No cars here, just gondolas and other boats. Each corner you turn is a possible painting. I chose a small restaurant with the view of a bridge crossing over the canal. No steps at the door of the restaurant, boats pull right up to the entrance and passengers get off. Guess you have to call a gondola when you want to leave.

Virtual Paintout…NOV. 2013 (Iceland)

November 2013 – Iceland

 This month we travel to Iceland. I chose a waterfall scene. It’s size is deceptive, those little images are people walking up to see the falls. They can climb up the right-hand mountain and go all the way up to look down on the falls. It would be an interesting place to visit.

October 2013 – Lima, Peru

 This month we travel to Lima, Peru. Lima has a very diverse geography. I chose a village street scene in the hills above Lima. There are many street markets and vendors, with everything for sale for daily life. This vendor was a butcher selling chicken parts. A small scale next to his umbrella cart must be used to weigh the meat. I think the dog is waiting for a handout.

September 2013 – Isle of Wight

This month we travel to the Isle of Wight, located in the English Channel. The Isle of Wight has a lengthy history, and a wonderful variety of geography to go along with it. I found this country cottage and tried to make it look like a “back-in-time” scene. Hope you enjoy.

August 2013 – Detroit

 This month we travel to the city of Detroit, Michigan. Detroit has been in the news a lot lately, particularly due to the city filing bankruptcy. I found this man sitting on his front porch. Maybe he’s thinking of better times? Many of the neighborhoods were just bare lots, where the city had removed the old homes and buildings.

This month’s Virtual Paintout takes us to Charleston, South Carolina. I found this cobble stone street, draped in shadows from the overhanging tree. This is in an older historical area of the city, near the French Quarter and Downtown Charleston.

Virtual Paintout – June 2013

This month’s “Virtual Paintout” takes us to the Azores, a group of volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean about 1500 km west of Portugal. I found this quaint side street “CAFE” and just had to paint the sign. I reminds me of the Main Street Bakery and Cafe here in Grapevine. Everyone likes to stop by for coffee and a chat!

Virtual Paintout – May 2013

This month’s “Virtual Paintout” takes us to Lido di Jeloso, Italy.  This little sliver of land is located in the Venice province of Italy, and boasts a 15 km long beach for the many tourists that flock here each year. I found this narrow lane with fishing boats along a peaceful waterway and decided to try painting it.
